    Katrina Hyland
    Head of K Fit

    Katrina has come from a performing background, having trained for her degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre at the Urdang Academy, London.

    After completing her course, Katrina found that her real passion is in teaching and keeping fit. In 2011, Katrina opened her first Zumba class at a local school hall, and hasn’t looked back.

    Now with many qualifications including Associate Dance Teacher, Exercise to Music and Kettlercise to name a few, Katrina leads the K Fit programme and endeavours to deliver a constant high level of fitness classes where everyone can be challenged and reach goals.

    Tasha comes from a dance background having trained for her degree in Dance at Ballet West, Scotland.

    After completing a nine month contract dancing and entertaining at a hotel in Cyprus she wanted to try something different and her love for fitness seemed like the way to go.

    She is now a qualified Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer and kettlebell and circuits Instructor.

    She is excited to join the K Fit team!

    Katie has a BA Honours degree in Teaching and Learning and a Level 2 Swimming Teachers qualification. She has been teaching swimming for the past 14 years and has a passion for watching children and adults succeed. She has been working in schools for the last 10 years and has lots of experience in teaching and conducting lessons.

    Along with other sporting achievements she is now embarking on a new challenge and one she is very excited about. She has started her Level 3 Mat Pilates course and is looking forward to joining the KFit team.

    ‘I have always enjoyed Pilates and the accessibility for all involved is brilliant. No matter your skill level and ability, there are ‘moves’ to suit everyone!’

    In her spare time, she enjoys going on walking holidays with her family and spending time with friends. She is always looking to better herself and is excited to attend more courses in the fitness industry in the future.

    Alana has been a K Fit class member for a number of years.  She is a Nurse and works in Occupational Health advising and managing employees and employers on health at work matters.

    One of Alana’s fitness goals has been to invest more time on her own activity level, and embark on a new fitness adventure. She has started her Level 3 Mat Pilates Course and is looking forward to joining the K Fit Team in 2023.

    “I can not think of a better way than starting the week with Pilates. It’s invigorating and totally sets me up for whatever I have planned for the week – physically and mentally. I am so excited about joining K Fit and look forward to teaching, learning and enjoying Pilates with you all soon”.

    Rhia has been part of a dance school since a young age and continues to enjoy dancing with others, now sharing the fun and knowledge through teaching, after completing her Associate Dance Teacher training. Rhia loves watching other’s passion grow as they begin to learn a new move or dance and develop their skills.

    Over the last few years, fitness has become a huge part of Rhia’s life. She has found it to be a way to take control and remain consistent, as well as being something which has so many benefits (both physical and mental). Rhia enjoys various forms of exercise but those that relate back to dancing are always the ones she enjoys the most – especially Barre and Zumba! She recently re-joined K Fit classes after having attended a few over the years with family and friends, and has loved having a consistent class to come to, all whilst having fun (and burning some calories!).

    Rhia is looking forward to developing her knowledge and supporting others in achieving fitness goals, and just having a great time in a friendly environment.

    I have been coming to Katrina’s classes for over 11 years, starting with one Zumba class which has snowballed over the years and now includes Kettlebells, Ab Attack and finishing the week with a lovely Pilates class on a Thursday. I thoroughly enjoy the classes but what makes me come back is the warmth and friendliness of Katrina and her instructors.

    I’m so excited to be joining the K Fit team as a Pilates Instructor, which is very different from my day job as a HR Caseworker in the Civil Service. Having both felt the benefits of doing the class and seen the amazing results it gave to my husband following his rehabilitation from a serious accident, I can’t wait to be on the other side and help others with the mental and physical benefits Pilates can bring to our lives.

    Sue has been a K Fit class member since Day One in September 2011! As a dear and close friend to Katrina, Sue helped out in the early K Fit days with handling payments and keeping paper registers in check. As the business has evolved, Sue’s role has too, and as Admin Assistant, Sue helps look after our clients by answering any email enquiries, class changes and class information for any new members.

    Sue has an extensive background in administration and loves to keep the back-of-house side of K Fit in order. You’ll also see Sue in many of our K Fit classes and she is a huge part of our caring and welcoming K Fit Family.

    Gaelle first discovered Zumba back in her university days, more than ten years ago, and she’s been hooked ever since. Over the years, she has moved to several places due to her job as a research scientist and has joined different classes in both France and the UK. While the songs and moves sometimes change, the amazing energy, happy vibes, and stress relief never fails. Zumba has helped her with her energy levels and done absolute wonders for her mental health. She has been a class member in the Zumba classes at K Fit for almost three years, and singing and dancing (simply having fun!) is the one thing that really helps her switch off from work stress, and that’s no small task!

    She absolutely loves the class, the people, the atmosphere and the lovely instructors. Now that Gaelle is a certified Zumba Instructor, she is really excited to officially join the K Fit adventure and looking forward to her first classes!

    Holly has always had a passion for mental health and helping people work on their self confidence. She discovered pilates 5 years ago after a serious back injury and fell in love with not only how accessible it is, but how good it can make people feel in their own bodies. It was this and seeing the passion of the K Fit tutors that gave her the confidence to start her Level 3 Mat Pilates course. She can’t wait to be part of the K Fit team and start helping people feel good about themselves, inside and out.

    “It’s not an exaggeration to say pilates changed my life. It was the stepping stone to living the lifestyle I wanted, but didn’t know how to achieve. I feel so much better physically and mentally and it all started with the K Fit pilates classes. I really want to show people how amazing pilates is and what a warm and supportive community surrounds it.”

A little Zumba update for you! Due to busy work commitments, our lovely Rhia will be stepping away from the Monday Zumba cover, and our fabulous Gaelle will be stepping in to cover until I return. Rhia will continue to take the Thursday Zumba class until I return. Over the next few weeks there will be a ‘phasing in/out’ period where Rhia and Gaelle will co-teach the Monday Zumba classes (apart from 18.5 as Gaelle is away), and then Gaelle will take over fully. This is to allow Gaelle enough time to learn another full set of tracks for you so that you still have a variety of dances in your classes. A huge thank you to Rhia for all her help in the Monday class over the last 3 months despite her busy schedule! And a huge thank you to Gaelle for enthusiastically taking over the class and learning more routines!!
